Missions

The call of all Episcopal Church Women to mission work dates back more than a century to the earliest days of ECW as an organized ministry.

This call is summed up in our Missions Prayer:

Almighty God, help us we pray Thee to shed abroad the light of They church in all the world. Give us greater zeal for Thy kingdom, that we may offer abundantly our prayers, our work and our gifts, so that the earth may be filled with the knowledge of Thy glory, as the waters cover the sea, through Thy son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Toward this end, the Board of the Diocese of North Carolina ECW does several things. It gives annual financial gifts known as the Epiphany Offering and the Christmas Offering. It also assigns a missionary or missionary couple to each of the convocations in the diocese. The women in the convocations are asked to help support these missionaries financially, emotionally and spiritually. Consider also organizing mission trips by your parish in order to offer hands-on help.
