Could I but love as You love, Lord,
I'd have eyes to see more clearly
What You'd have me do,
What you'd have me be.
Could I but care as You care, Lord,
My love would freely flow,
Reaching out to all I meet
Everywhere I go.
Could I but give as You give, Lord,
The world would know no need
As bounteous good would overflow,
Each hungry soul to feed.
Oh, teach me, then, Your silent ways,
That I may do your will, so I may,
Simply by being, my destiny fulfill.
