Thanksgivings and Prayer Requests from the Hills - February 2009

Dear Praying Friends,

As we come to the end of a very difficult week, where both Allen and I succumbed to the flu, I realise that it really is time I sent out our prayer requests. We need some prayers!! Thank you in advance for lifting us up.

Thanksgivings:

  • We are thankful for a fairly easy-going January. The boys have been in a fun summer program which has really boosted their Spanish and has given both Allen and I time to get some necessary work done.
  • We are so thankful for all those whose generosity and obedience have enabled us to continue our work here in Peru and provided for the ongoing functioning of the seminary.

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for the Lord to completely heal us from the flu and that the boys would not come down with it. Pray that He would grant us uninterrupted and restorative sleep. I have hardly slept all week and am exhausted. Pray especially that the Lord would guard us from all anxiety of heart and mind and give us His peace.
  • We have many exciting opportunities coming up and ask for your prayers for all our preparation.
  • Allen has to prepare two new classes, at the same time he has to handle the admission and matriculation of new students and all other practical details in the seminary seeing as we no longer have a secretary, due to financial shortages. He is also beginning reading for a Masters in Sacred Theology.
  • Rachel is preparing for the beginning of classes in March, will be preaching on holiness at the diocesan youth camp in March, will be giving a reflection on Christian unity at the World Day of Prayer event (which is an important ecumenical event) in early March. Please pray that the Lord would speak clearly to us the messages and teaching He wants us to bring to His people.
  • In the next few days we should be hearing whether John has been accepted at the same school as James. Please pray for the Lord to open the right door for him, and also that this last month of holiday would be great fun and refreshing for the boys, that they would feel ready to go back to school.
  • We were not expecting to travel this summer, but due to changes in the INS process we are now travelling to the US from February 21- March 1. We ask for special prayers of protection and grace as we travel and specifically that we would receive zero hassle from immigration as we enter the US.
  • Finally, please continue to pray for Bishop Godfrey. While his wound appeared to be healing up last month it has not yet done so. Please pray for complete healing of the ongoing infection and strength for him and Judith as they travel raising much-needed support for the diocese.

Thank you friends!

God bless you,

Rachlel, Allen, James and John Hill
